Piper Jaffray Receives Cornerstone’s Community Partner Award
Annual award recognizes exemplary volunteer group
(Bloomington, Minn., April 25, 2016) — Cornerstone Advocacy Service (Cornerstone) awarded Piper Jaffray with its Community Partner Award at the agency’s supporter appreciation event on Wednesday, April 13 at Artistry in Bloomington. The annual award is given to an exemplary volunteer group who has shown an ongoing commitment to preventing violence in the community.
“It is our privilege to present Piper Jaffray with Cornerstone’s 2016 Community Partner Award.” said Laura Sorensen, volunteer coordinator at Cornerstone. “Our participants have benefitted tremendously from the hard work of Piper Jaffray employees and the company’s generosity in support of our mission to eliminate domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.”
The partnership between Piper Jaffray and Cornerstone has grown in the past several years to include volunteering, donation drives, corporate support on behalf of employee volunteers and foundation giving. Piper Jaffray employees consistently seek opportunities to support Cornerstone throughout the year. Groups from Piper Jaffray come to Cornerstone to cook and serve dinners to support group participants and their kids, employees organize internal donation drives for new items needed for families fleeing violence and individuals come in on a regular basis to assist with maintenance projects. Each year, the Piper Jaffray Minneapolis office participates in Cornerstone’s Holiday Shop program that teaches youth the joy of giving.
“Piper Jaffray has a long tradition of supporting charitable community service and employee volunteerism.” said Dean Nelson, Director of Community Relations at Piper Jaffray. “We recognized the strong dedication of several employees involved in Cornerstone’s outstanding community programs, such as toy drives, food drives and meal services, and as a result, Piper Jaffray has provided direct financial support to Cornerstone over the last few years. We are honored to receive the 2016 Community Partner Award, and look forward to continuing our important partnership with Cornerstone.”
Cornerstone also recognized St. Paul resident Lisa Belvito for her exceptional volunteer service to Cornerstone. Lisa has volunteered as an advocate in Cornerstone’s emergency shelter for 11 years; dedicating 1,599 hours since 2005 to assisting families in crisis. Throughout 2015, Lisa drove to Cornerstone every Thursday to staff a four hour shift which allowed shelter staff to attended trainings, case management meetings and appointments. Lisa is an important member of Cornerstone’s team of over 1,000 volunteers who donate their time and talents to support individuals and families as they rebuild their lives.
