October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The month of October is recognized nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). With the goal of highlighting the importance of working to end domestic violence, Cornerstone Advocacy Service (Cornerstone) will host several events that are free and open to the public throughout October.

Interfaith Domestic Violence Forum
Saturday, October 15 from 8:30 to 11:30am
Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church
9920 Normandale Boulevard, Bloomington
People experiencing domestic violence often disclose to a trusted leader or member of their faith community. This forum, on two dates and at two locations, is an opportunity for members and leaders of the faith community to learn how to effectively support someone experiencing domestic violence. The forum will present the issue from a unique perspective, grounded in the teachings of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Attendees can enjoy cupcakes, a local food truck and a silent auction featuring over 30 fantastic items and baskets. Donations at the door, the silent auction and wine wall will benefit Cornerstone.
