Letter from Executive Director, Meg Schnabel

On behalf of Cornerstone’s Board of Directors, our dedicated staff, and each and every family we serve, thank you for your continued support. Since 1983, Cornerstone has built a continuum of programming that helps to create communities where individuals and families are safe and children thrive. I am thrilled to be joining an organization with such a solid foundation and a committed community of supporters. Your continued investment in our work will fulfill Cornerstone’s long standing vision set forth by years of experience recognizing that access to resources and a team of caring Cornerstone staff reignites our clients’ sense of hope.

Cornerstone’s comprehensive services for parents focus on helping them understand the dynamics of abuse, develop effective parenting skills, learn how to discipline children while building self-esteem, and how to create safeguards to prevent family violence.

Cornerstone’s Criminal Justice Intervention services are active in 10 suburban cities partnering with local law enforcement, prosecutors, and the courts to advocate on behalf of sexual violence and domestic violence victims.

“Because of Cornerstone, I don’t have to live in fear.”

Cornerstone’s emergency shelter and transitional housing services provides families with thoughtfully designed living spaces with access to advocacy, counseling and support services.

“Because of Cornerstone, my children don’t have to share a bedroom with strangers.”

Cornerstone’s school-based services provide education and counseling to students on dating violence, bullying, anger management, harassment, and sexual violence in 20 Hennepin County schools.

“Because of Cornerstone, I know the harassment and abuse I have experienced is not my fault.”

Throughout 2014, Cornerstone has touched the lives of 3,487 children, youth, and adults. As a dual agency, we are also responding to victims of sexual assault and human trafficking. Because of people like you, Cornerstone continues to provide cost efficient high impact services for our communities’ most vulnerable families.
